The History

In 1972, Frank Shorter, Jack Bacheler, Jeff Galloway, Ron Jourdan, Byron Dyce and Harry Winkler all qualified for the Olympic Games. All were members of the Florida Track Club which was born from the idea University of Florida head track and field and cross country coach, Jimmy Carnes, had when he arrived from Furman University. That one idea spawned a period of success seen like no other in American track and field, cross country and road running history.
